DOUBLE GLAZED

Double glazed units are manufactured from two or more panes of glass held apart by a metal spacer and bonded with a primary and secondary seal, before dehydrated air or argon gas is trapped between the glass panes.

LEGISLATION AND STANDARDS

Double glazed units will assist in satisfying the energy saving requirements stipulated in SANS 204.

SIZES & THICKNESS

Double Glazed units are available up to a maximum size of 3200 mm x 2000 mm, with a standard air gap of 12 mm. However other air gaps are available upon request.

Note : For efficient insulation, a 6 mm air space should not be used where the minor dimension exceeds 1000 mm.

THERMAL STRESS

A thermal stress evaluation must be requested when glass with high heat absorption is utilized in the unit.

Temperature and atmospheric pressure fluctuations are likely to cause distorted reflections when reflective glass is incorporated in Double Glazed. This is inherent to all double glazed units.
